18 Today! Impossible!

Our eldest son was born on Easter Sunday. As the last amen was spoken in many churches, at 12:19 p.m just past noon, our son made his arrival. What a special day that was. Now we were parents! And if we had other children, they would have a big brother. I was very happy about that. I thought all families should have a big brother first. Isn't it funny what you think?
Why is it that children are born to you when you are young and inexperienced? I've decided that it is to help YOU/ME become the people we are meant to be, then the cycle repeats itself in your children when their children are born! Isn't it amazing how much you change when you become a parent!

Jonathan, we are so proud of you. God had a great big plan for your life. You are a wonderful caring young man.

Happy Birthday!
I love you,
Mom

P.S. Can anyone tell me please, where have all the years gone? I'm NOT that old! (tears go away) remember: smile because it happened NOT cry because it's over! That's right! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Son!

Happy birthday to your son. I have a 20 year old daughter so I am crying right along with you. I sob at all those songs talking about the years passing by.

What a blessing they are to us though!

..::shaking my head and sniffing back the tears here, too::..

I have no idea where the years have gone. I'm sure it was just yesterday... or last week at the very most...

Happy birthday, Jonathan!

That picture of you three in the mirror is really neat!

I love your thoughts about how having children when we are young benefits us in our own growth. We often think parents are there primarily for the care of the children, but people mature a lot when they have kids. Parents also get a deeper understanding of the love God has for His children. There are many, many lessons that adults can learn from children.

Ah Rachel,
Happy Birthday to Jonathan. My does time fly when we're having fun, doesn't it? I love your saying, not to be sad about the time - you are absolutely right!
Happy Day!

Happy Birthday to Jonathan! Rachel, I certainly can relate to what you are feeling! I've often wondered why God gives us wisdom when we get older. Why not start, say, at 13 when we think we know it all anyway?? LOL I've often felt that I grew up with my children, learning as we went along.

As far as the tears, well..when I did my post recently on my son's
35th birthday, I cried the whole time I was typing. A word that comes to mind, one of my favorite words, is bittersweet. It says so much!

Have a great day today!

Hugs,
Hope

HI Rachel and Happy Birthday to Jonathon. My son Andrew has a birthday today as well, he is 15. I feel sad that our paths have been so far removed. I have so many great memories from childhood. I have sent a couple e-mails and wondered if they got through? Have a happy day!

Oh sweetie.... I know all to well what you're going through. How funny that I thought the boy should be born first too. The years do go by all too fast. Happy Birthday to Jonathon (albeit a day late) and Bless you for having to go through the pain of having a son that old ;)
