Monday Morning Pleasure!

A stroll off the porch to see the flowers on a cool crisp Spring Monday morning, just makes getting up to face the day that much more worth it!
Chives! What do YOU do with chives? I'd like to know.
Oh isn't this iris beautiful? It is the third color that I've had bloom this year. A friend told me that if you take a red tulip, (or any color for that matter) and cut the bulb in half before you plant it, the next time it blooms it will be pink. She called it bleeding out the colors to get new colors. I wonder if this would work with irises, especially since their "roots" are called rhizomes, and not bulbs?
I hope your Monday will be full of pleasure and you will feel the blessings that each moment brings.

Love, Rachel

Hi Rachel,
When we were kids, my aunt would fry up bacon, crumble it and then add fresh chives and bacon to the sour cream for our baked potatoes. Oh that brings back such wonderful memories.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Chives add a delicate flavor to many things. I chop them up and add them to salads for a mild flavor. The flowers can be added also. They are great added to egg and potato dished. Any place you might want a mild onion flavor. Have fun experimenting.

So pretty! Your home is looking lovely with flowers and I really like that shade of green paint on it.

Chop 'em up fine with kitchen shears, and then dry them on low heat in the oven... and you can use them in any recipe that calls for them. I like to make a cream cheese/cucumber/chive spread for tea sandwiches.

My what pretty flowers! I grow chives outside my back door in a bucket with other herb plants. The chives are my favorites. I add them on top of eggs, in salads, in homemade salsa and on top of baked potatoes. YUM...now I am hungry! xoxo ~ Joy

What gorgeous flowers you have!!! That would be cool if you could alter the colors. I know with hydrangias, you get different colors by the acids in the soil, it is so cool!

Your flowers are so.. beautiful. My favorite thing to do with chives is to chop them up very fine. And put them with sour cream and bacon on top of baked potatoes. They are yummy!
