The Team Is Back

The school board gave this award to each member of the robotics team that our son is on.

And now he is back, and adjusting once again to family life after a whirlwind 5 day 4 night all expense paid trip to California State University, for World Championship Robotics Competition. NASA was one of the sponsors of this, and it has been a great experience for our son all year long. Their team placed 38 out of 91. At one point they were in 1st and 7th place. China took away top honors. On Friday as we watched a few of the challenges by Webcast, I began to think about my Uncle Myrl who retired from NASA as an engineer. He designed the moon car, and worked on preliminary testing of the space shuttle. I know he never had these opportunities as a young teenager in high school, but he accomplished a lot as a man. The house project is moving right along, section by section. Here is our old door bell. When you ring it, it sounds like a tiny little hammer hitting against a metal ring...so old, so quaint, and so loved.

My plan was to paint or clean the metal surround that circles the button, until I realized that it is copper and the surface had aged to a nice patina. I think I'll leave it for now and think about it for a bit!
So what fun things do you have planned for your day? It's a busy day here for sure. I need to go over my list and make sure I don't leave anything important out!
One of my comments yesterday asked if we know the history about our home. We do know some of it, and I will share a little in a future posting.
Have a wonderful day dear family and friends. Thank you for all of your wonderful comments and encouragement.
Love, Rachel

Wow! What a fine family history you have! Rocket Scientist! Woo Hoo! I wanted to be a scientist and my sat's agreed with my choice, but my father felt a woman should be married, not educated. Water under that bridge is on the other side of the world by now! LOL! Congrats to your son and his class. Great accomplishments.
Please keep the door chime as it is; I think it will be a testament to the care and thoughtfulness you have put into this renovation-it really screams 'loved.'
I'm going to vote today and hopefully work on a wall hanging.
Hugs,
Liv
