You guys had some really great guesses about this photo. The picture in the guessing game below is of the floor in this room. It is my feeble attempt at painting a "rug"! I still want to put 3 fleur-de-lis (spell check has no idea what that previous word is, so it may not be spelled right) designs on the long pink rectangle, but I don't have a pattern for that yet.
I took these two pictures about 5 minutes apart because I noticed that I had a board on one side and a curtain draped across the upper right hand corner of the one on top. Look at how different the sunlight is in the backyard between the two.
This is the little room we walk through from our back porch to the kitchen. We call it "Ivory's Room". Ivory is the ferret and I'm standing next to her cage. Technically it is probably a mud room. It certainly is a challenge in the MUD area! Wow! We do land surveying and land development, and park on a gravel drive! So dirt is definitely an amazing element to deal with in the Yukon, the back porch and this room. It would be untruthful to say that there aren't times that I don't long for a paved drive and a garage in which to park, but this is home and this is where we've grown our children's roots and wings, and there is more to life than a paved drive. Isn't there?
Now why was it I painted the floor white? Ask me that in about 2 days. We've had rain, rain, rain. Two inches per hour for 5 hours last night in our surrounding area. So we will see how the white holds up. I had these two cans of paint, and just decided to go with it! We were all ready for a change. And no one seems to mind the pink! Yay! The kitchen door is to the left. You can't see it can you?
So do any of you have a white painted floor? Is it hard to keep clean? If it is...sssshhhh....don't tell me!
I'll talk to you soon!
Love, Rachel

Ivory's room is so beautiful! I love the floor. I found some very large foam stamps that are flur-de-liese (sp?) in two styles at Big Lots. I also have a stencil somewhere that I bought years ago. If I can find it do you want me to send it to you? As talented as you are, you should just take a pencil to the floor and draw them out! I think the color is great too!
Hugs,
Liv
Rachel, Your mud room is so cute. You did a wonderful job painting it. I'm sorry for the rain and storm your area is getting now. Kathi
I just stumbled onto your blog today. I'm so impressed with your porch floor!
