Ok Spring Is On The Way!

I have proof! It's a balmy 47 degrees F...but that is downstairs.
By just going upstairs you can enjoy a true spring like atmosphere with the temps in the upper 60's. Outside...well it's like -13F or something like that. I'm so glad they closed school today.

So we layer our clothing, and if we sit we cover with one of these fluffy throws AND we continue to try to find ways to winterize this "drafty ole' mansion"...at least that's what George Bailey called his lovely home on "It's a Wonderful Life". And it is a wonderful life isn't it?

Now Esther and Donnie (those are 2 of my sisters that make comments most everyday) don't be worrying about us. We'll stay busy (sitting with your feet over the furnace vent is considered busy isn't it?) and I'm gonna call my 91 year old neighbor and make sure she's all right...see if she needs anything, and the 80+ year old lady the other way...they live in one of these lovely dream homes too!

So Spring is on the way! This cold snap will pass...the year is flying by. I better get busy!
Love, Rachel

You stay warm now! Oh my goodness, it has been cold here too, but not like what you're experiencing. I love "It's a Wonderful Life" and I quote it often! I love it at the end when he goes up the stairs and the round piece on the stair railing newell post comes off again and he kisses it and puts it back. I think of that often when I get irritated with broken things in my home.

I hope it warms up there soon!

Wonderful post, Rachel! There is always something to be thankful for. "It's a Wonderful Life" says it so well. We're still in the deep freeze too. Have a lovely day and stay warm!

Blessings,
Sandi

I love it- we're in the same boat! My craft room is in the basement in the deep freeze and I so want to be down there with my 2 snow days off but it is freezing down there!!! I may have to start dragging things up to the main level but what an ordeal that is! We watched movies down there yesterday under layers of blankets. Maybe if I had a (tv) Snugee I could work in my room and still be warm-lol. Tomorrow is supposed to be above zero...so we'll see! Stay warm!

Hi Rachel, I am new to your blog and I love your style and I love porches also. I was wondering what the recipe for the Ice Cinnamon Toast is. It looks very good. I live in GA and it about 17 degrees here. I would love to have some snow here because we get very little.

Anyways, have a great day, stay warm.

This is the craziest winter! It hasn't been this cold or this much snow since the 1950's. We aren't as cold as you are experiencing right now, but 50's in this old house is still cold. I might have to sell a kid to pay the heating bill. lol
Stay warm. Spring will be here soon.

Oh, yikes! That's WAY too cold! Thank goodness someone invented heaters!

And yes, I know keeping the furnace vent company is very busy work! I helped you do that at Christmas! :)

Stay warm!

Love you!
