A Way of Life

I shall pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being...Let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. author unknown

Polka dots: in life the special occasions, main events, everyday happenings. Stripes: the lines of routine occurrences, schedules kept, consistant love shown to others. The lines connect the dots...the shape of life!

Life is a work of art, a thing of beauty. Live each day to the fullest.

Yesterday while rubbing lotion on her red chapped hands, our little one said with a dejected tone in her voice, "My skin is all worn out." Her 4 year old skin ALL worn out!!! Of course, I laughed inside as I rubbed her hands, and contemplated what she had said. She'd been busy living! ... "let me do it now! Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

Have a full and happy day!

P.S. Have your children or grandchildren or any child for that matter, said something that made you laugh? I'd love to hear it. There's nothing cuter that an innocent voice speaking their perspective.

Thank you to all of you who have left such kind and sweet comments. It means so much to me. I love to hear from you and hear what is going on in your life. I think about the ones that I love and know who are close by in the United States. Then there are those who are connected just because this technology is so amazing in Kuwait, Israel, Indonesia (the list goes on) and I wonder about you. I hope in some small way, this will bring you happiness and joy today. Love,Rachel

Pretty pictures! And I love what you have to say!

A little piano student of mine told me that her mommy was a doctor. I asked her what kind; she thought for a minute and then said, "Pre-Edition." When I found out her mom was a Pediatrician, I figured the little girl was pretty close in her title!

This week's "funny" from our house:

I've been helping Elle* clean out her room this week (closets, drawers, etc.). I came across a pill bottle full of pretty little pebbles, collected on of our outings last summer, no doubt.
I asked, "What's this?!"

She said, "Rocks."

"Uh-huh," I said. "Why don't you go put them in the fishbowl?" (That's what we had done with a bunch of other pretty rocks we had collected.)

"Okay." She headed to the living room to take care of that "little job."

"Wait!" Becky* hollered after her. "I want to see the fish's reaction!" And she ran to catch up.

I called Mother and Dad to tell them what Becky said. They wondered how she would KNOW what the fish's reaction was.

(*Elle and Becky are what they call each other, so I decided that could be their internet names.)

Well sweet Rachel,

I love your daughter's comment and yours as well. I think I'll give up blogging or commenting for the day. The proof-reader in my head is not working today (had to delete my previous comment due to lack of spell power!). Guess that's why we can "preview"??

Love your blog & outlook on life.

xoxo,
Tracie

Girl... You just made me burn my cinnamon rolls! ha! I put them in the oven, came back to see what your beautiful blog had on it today and became so interested that I completely forgot about them...Don't you feel bad? Love your words for today! I just saw your mantle from yesterday....It's so pretty! You are so creative to think of putting "lights" in your fireplace to create beauty!(We have candles in ours!)We occasionally enjoy eating dinner by candlelight....I think that feels cozy! Our kids make us laugh alot(loved what Tiffany said!...so cute!)...My heart melted this morning when Cassie put her arms around me and said"You are the best Mom in the whole world and I love you so much!"(I always thought MY mom was...ha!)Just little moments like that make life worth living! Have a great day!

Hi Rachel,
What an inspiring post! I love what your little one said about her hands. So cute! If you read my blog today I told a little funny thing that my granddaughter said to me when she was younger. They are so precious. You might want to write down some of these cute things they say in a journal or something. Some day you'll be old like me and forget! :(

Have a good day and come see me!

Hugs,
Hope

Wow, what insight children have! :)

I have 25 kids--they all come up with something that cracks me up at one time or another. One day we were making placemats for mother's day. One little girl drew a pig on hers and wrote in big bold letters, "Pig Out Mom".

BTW, in case you haven't figured it out, I'm a teacher! LSH

OH, RACHEL! THANKS FOR ASKING AND I WILL TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TELL ABOUT MY GRANDSON! HE SPENT SATURDAY NIGHT WITH US AND THEN, THE NEXT MORNING, WE WENT TO CHURCH. AFTERWARDS WE HAD THE NOON MEAL AND WHEN THEY WERE GETTING READY TO LEAVE, HE ASKED IF HE COULD HAVE ANOTHER SLEEP-OVER. HIS DAD SAID HE WANTED HIM TO GO HOME WITH THEM. HE PUCKERED UP HIS LIPS AND SAID IN A SAD VOICE, 'BUT DAD! PAPA'S GOING TO MISS ME!'

LOVE, KEITH

Hi, Rachel! I haven't been able to be at the computer for a while, so I've been anxious to see your post! It was well worth the wait!

OH, I THOUGHT OF ANOTHER ONE! WHEN MY OLDEST SON WAS IN KINDERGARTEN, EVERY MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL, WE'D HAVE PRAYER WITH HIM. I'D SAY THE PRAYER AND THEN HE'D REPEAT IT. I WOULD SAY, "HELP ME BE GOOD; HELP ME BE NICE TO MY TEACHER; HELP ME BE NICE TO MY FRIENDS." AND HE WOULD REPEAT EACH PHRASE. . .UNTIL I SAID, "HELP ME LEARN MY ABC'S." ON THIS ONE, HE STOPPED AND SAID, "BUT DAD, I ALREADY KNOW MY ABC'S!"

I so enjoy your blog, Rachel. It's just like you = beautiful and creative! I found it interesting that you like Pretty as a Picture figurines, too. Dan has given me several over the years - they are so sweet.
A cute story that comes to my mind is when my youngest, Benji, was relaying the Sunday School lesson to his daddy. It was about when Lazarus died and Jesus came AFTER he was already buried. He told his daddy that Jesus forgot to check his email so he didn't even know Lazarus was sick! (This was back when I only checked my email like once a month because there was rarely anything in it). I guess that sounded like an obvious explanation to him why a best friend wouldn't come quickly when their friend was dying. Modern day version for you!
