Imagine My Surprise...

...when reading Karla's blog at Ramblin' Roads, and saw her "breakfast" displayed on a small dessert plate like this blue one. I have 4 pieces of the blue china which I acquired from a yard sale about 12 years ago. Then I found this green pattern about 2 years ago, and have 2 plates. For some reason I just love these patterns, but obviously, I don't see them around much. I'm pretty sure I've seen it in pink, lavender and yellow also. I wouldn't mind running across some of that while thrifting!

Does anyone know anything about these china patterns? The blue platter is marked "Homer Laughlin", but there are no other markings on the blue or green pieces. Dear Penny at Lavender Hill Studio may be able to tell me something. Visit her too, you must see her amazingly beautiful mosiac artwork.

Hi Rachel,
The bottom one is by the Mount Clemens Pottery Company and the pattern is called Mildred. You can find it wil a floral bouquet in the center and without the bouquet in the center. I am not sure about the other plate. You can go to www.replacements.com and purchase or find out more about them. Ebay is also a good place to find them.

Thanks for the nice words about my mosaics!
Penny

Dear Rachel,
Is the deviled egg plate I gave you that same pattern? I don't remember, other than it does have flowers on it.
Guess what, this morning there was a Robin in my bird bath. Does that mean Spring is almost here??? Hope so!
Have a wonderful day. Love you, Donnie

Hi Rachel,
That is very pretty. I knew Penny would probably be able to help you. I use to sell some Homer Laughlin on Ebay. We would find odds and ends pieces at thrift stores and such. If you just keep your eye open you'll probably run across some.

I think I was eavesdropping on your and Karla's conversation and she told you she would give you hers for your collection?? LOL I'm so bad!! LOL

Hugs,
Hope

Donnie, The egg plate is VERY close to the same pattern though not exact. I still love it anyway. Yay, on the robin. They (whoever THEY is) say Spring is just around the corner when you see a robin.

Hope, Yes, Karla did give me her pieces. I'm still overjoyed! Also, I think a neat thing to do with your door until you find another use would be to lean it against a wall behind an end table,or other unoccupied location, then set a small light on the floor so that it reflects up through the glass. It will sparkle. If you need me to "babysit" I can, because I have the PERFECT spot for just such a fabulous object!!!!

The ones I have say "Homer Laughlin" but then they each have a number below that. Each of the saucers are B41N6, C41N6, D41N6, and E41N6, and then the bread-and-butter plate is D41N6, same as one of the saucers. Explain that little mystery!

I went to the www.replacements.com site that Penny mentioned and found the pattern there. It is pattern #B1345. You can order a vegetable bowl or an oval serving platter for $25 each. That's all the pieces they have in stock right now.

I used to have the oval serving platter, too, but it got broken.

I'm going to post a picture of my tea "set" on my blog tomorrow, so you'll know what kind of cup-and-saucers I'm looking for!

Hi Rachel,

I have a couple Homer Laughlin plates -- with pink, yellow and white flowers but a different pattern than yours and Karla's. Homer must have been a busy guy!

I'm enjoying your blog!

HI RACHEL IF YOU KEEP LOOKING WHEN YOU ARE OUT 'THRIFTING' YOU WILL FIND SOME MORE TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION . TO ME THE HUNT IS AS MUCH FUN AS THE FIND. ANNETTE BOUGHT A GRISSWALD WAFFLE IRON AT A YARD SALE BUT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN I TOLD HER I THOUGHT A PART WAS MISSING AND IT WAS. ABOUT FIVE YEARS LATER WE FOUND THE MISSING PART AT A FLEA MARKET. A FEW WEEKS AGO SHE USED IT TO MAKE WAFFLES FOR BRAEDON AND US. HAVE FUN . KEITH
