Thank you for giving me your opinions in the previous posting. The resounding choice among those of you that commented, is to leave the sign red! How neat! It has been fun to see what you "think about pink"!
Several years ago when we moved into this house, there were a few forlorn dusty items left behind in the carriage house. Upon closer inspection, I realized that this sign was among them, and immediately fell in love with it. I dragged it out, scrubbed it off, and a reclaimed treasure was hung with pride right there above the window where it has been all this time. In the spring we took it down to paint behind it and clean it off. Then we hung it again. The back porch just wouldn't be the same without it. I wish I knew where it was used to advertise cotton candy! Hhmmm...I should ask "Mr. Mayor".
I know the sign isn't advertising the color of the candy, but has anyone ever seen red cotton candy?
Love, Rachel

Rachel - Your back porch looks SO inviting! I especially love the checkerboard flooring - what a great touch!
That splash of color in the sign is perfect, too! I need to come and visit you sometime soon before the weather gets bad so we can sit out on the back porch and enjoy the cool breeze and some wonderful conversation.

Now that I see a better effect of the sign and the porch, I do think the red sign is better. :)

I have never seen red cotton candy, nope, but it is adverstising and you MUST catch the person's eye when advertising. Bright red is a very good color for that. ;-)

And I love your light fixture! Is there a story behind that as well?

Hi Rachel~
That sign is so cute, I've often wondered about it. I wasn't here yesterday, but I think people were right on with leaving it original.

I've never seen red cotton candy. Only pink and an aqua blue so far - Never Say Never ;)

I love your back porch Rachel. You have such a beautiful atmosphere. That painted deck is adorable. I'm sorry I have not visited lately. It is harvest time around here, and I am quite busy. I've missed some of the progress on your home, but I intend to come back and see it. Have a lovely day. Oh, and I love the red sign too. Kathi

I love the sign and the history behind it. From the pictures, it looks great on your front porch. Maybe the previous owners used to set up shop at the town fair to sell cotton candy. I don't remember if I've had red cotton candy, but I suppose anything is possible nowadays with food coloring.
