House or Home?

Isn't this house adorable? Look at the gently sweeping arches above the porch. I don't know who it belongs to, but I couldn't pass the chance to show it to you.
By the way, when does a house become a home? What makes a house "homey"?
Have a wonderful day.
Love, Rachel

When the kitchen has a warm meal in the oven and everyone breaks bread together--my idea, anyway!

What a darling home! I think it is when it is filled up with people who love each other and it fills up with all the people's belongings that they love. When it is filled with memories of good meals, happy holidays and great conversations. Also, when there has been a little conflict, but that conflict has been overcome by God's love, peace and protection.

Have a great day!

LOVE the house! Everyone has their own "style" of decorating, but I think a house is "homey" when you feel comfortable and happy there. I agree with the "yummy meals, good conversation and lots of love for your family and friends" ideas! Fun thoughts! :)(P.S. Your porch looks beautiful, too!)

I think Love makes a house a home...when you love the house enough to take care of it,fill it with memories and the people inside love one another too.
Shannon needs to read your post...she is wanting a new home so bad but when other see her cute home....they think it is perfect.
Sometimes we are never satisfied and I say...to have a roof over your head is a gift there are so many without and living on the streets.
as always your posts make a person grateful for what they have and time spent with family. Hugs~

Hi Rachel,
I haven't been around to visit you in quite some time, the wedding has taken a bunch of my time lately! I just got all the wedding bouquets and the buttoniers done, that was a huge relief let me tell ya!

I love the picture of this house, this is the kind of house I would love to someday own, just the perfect size, older with dormers too!

I think making a house a home is decorating with personal items that you adore looking at everyday, it is the smell of my soy candle warmer, that puts the scent of fresh baked cake in the air, it is the beautiful paint colors on my walls, and mostly it is the joy and laughter of my precious family!

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday, bless you this week and the coming weekend...
XO,
Donna Lynn

I think a house becomes a home when there are people and love. The sounds of laughter, a banging screen door, and a barking dog, the smell of bread baking, and candles burning all help to make a house homey.

I hope you're having a great day in your homey home!

Love, Esther

I think a house becomes a home when you walk in and sigh and feel like you just want to sit down and relax and feel peaceful. Not all homes evoke this feeling. I think it comes from a home that is taken care of. The house doesn't have to be big, but I think it needs to feel loved and lived in with personal touches all over- whatever the decorating style. I think candles, a pet, yummy food, books, and a porch definately crank up the "homey" feel of a house.

I know this is an older post, but I had to share what I think a home is. A home is where no matter where it is or what it has, you feel at peace and hugged when you walk in the door. I have been to houses that were mansions, but they didn't feel anything like another's home of 800 square feet where love abounded.
