Hymn Chimes

This beautiful old church is across the street and 1/2 a block down. Three times each day, hymns and carols chime across the sounds waves and reach me as I listen and enjoy. I find the sounds comforting and uplifting. Most usually I know the words to the tune that is being played, and I sing along, at least in my mind if not out loud.
I've thought that I should go to the church office and ask them if I could play the bells...I think that would be so fun. I can tell when different people are playing because the bells sound different.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
Old Testament Psalm chapter 95 verse 2
Have a musical restful day.
Love, Rachel

They just don't make em like this anymore.

We have a few of these beauties here in our river town. They play hymns at noon and six in the evening...when we hear them start we call it "hymn time"... we stop what we're doing , run to the front porch and sing along with the old hymns.

Wow a beautiful church Rachel! I love it when bells/chimes are being played, but sadly none around us do that, so I always stop and consider it a treat when I do hear some. Have a wonderful day!

i love the sound of church bells playing... when i lived in KC there was a beautiful cathedral nearby that filled our neighborhood with such peaceful music! you should go play them sometime!
rach, i'm sorry i didn't get back with you last night. i decided to just go with it and will not need you to take time out of your busy schedule to tag along. (UNLESS you just want to!) thanks for the chat yesterday... we'll have to do that more often, huh?
enjoy your bright sunny sunday! ;-)

Wonderful post :-)
One of the joys upon our move to a small Georgia town was hearing at the top of the hour the church bells and hymns.
I pray this little joy continues well past my lifetime.

Hello Rachel; I love the beautiful sound of Church bells. Just up the street from where I live we have a church that plays it bells, in the summer time with my windows open how joyous the sound is.

Hugs;

In the Summer months, we can hear church bells tolling from one of our local historic churches. It's such a wonderful sound! You're so fortunate that you get to hear it 3 times a day!! Blessings... polly

That church looks so familiar! It is so lovely. Wish I had one in my neighborhood. We have lost so much beauty, so many landmarks. I fear we will lose more.

How lovely! Go ask to play. What an experience. I think hearing bells play are comforting. Kind of like the old town cryers. "All is well."
Thanks for sharing,
Debbie
